Check out this beautiful hand crafted book by a talented woman in my uni class. Well worth all the hard work Jayne. jaynewalsh:

Personal Pathway Final Solution: Anti Branding Manifesto.

Whilst I understand that branding is part of something that a designer can do I do not want to be branded myself. What I object to is the idea that an individual becomes a commodity and their self worth can be demeaned.

The finished book is made up of a series of typographic lino prints.  It is a concertina construction; I will also display the prints in poster form at the exhibition in June. The colour and type is reminiscent of the Russian Constructivists who invented graphic design for idealistic purposes. My manifesto reflects the anti corporate stance of the original graphic artists who have inspired me.

I have defined a brand and then stated why I am not like that. I have used quotes about brands and tried to answer them. As a society we love brands and logos, they have the power to make us choose one product over another without even thinking about it. They literally tell us what to buy. I have likened a logo to a false but permanent smile, a public face that hides the truth like the layers of an onion.

// Screenprinting virgin.//

First attempt at screenprinting. Absolutely loved it and quite happy with the results. A few mistakes here and there but they all add to the concept of portraying mental health issues through song lyrics.

The prints are little blotchy in places but isn’t our mental health sometimes?

Again this one needs work. Doesn’t read how I want it to.
